Bearhill’s Scarf 2020

For the support our dogs, you can purchase this handy Bearhill’s husky neck scarf.

All our guests get this scarf complementary during our winter tours for the extra protection against the cold and wind. But it can be used also during the summer and very useful while doing sports. It is made of light weight material, which breaths well and also dries very fast.

There is a little story behind our buff idea. It gets quite windy and chilly during the husky tour, so we wanted to offer some extra wind and cold protection for our guests. We needed to find an easy and functional way for the scarf, so we thought of giving the new neck scarfs to all our guests, which they can take with them home as well as use them during their holidays in Rovaniemi. At first we had blue color for our buff for a few years, but lately we decided to have different color every year. So last year (2019) we had a green color buff and this year we have happy bright pink color.

Please, remember to fill up your full delivery address correctly. As our web shop is made to book tours, there is question for accommodation. Don’t mind that, just put your home town.

We hope you enjoy our multi-functional scarf. Thanks for your support.

Business development projects

Bearhill Husky has been investing and building company infrastructure for the past 4 years. A dogsledding kennel needs a lot of facilities to be able to function efficiently. We also need functional facilities for our personnel as well as for our customers. To be able to run our programs all year round, we need to plan and make trails and other infrastructure.

The latest development project we started last summer (2019) to improve our autumn trails, sauna environment, build a wooden Kota and create new programs for the Summer season. For this project we have applied and got approved European development money from the European EAKR fund.

BORN TO RUN TOUR AFTERNOON (NOVEMBER, EARLY WINTER)

A 2,5 hour program with approximately 45 minute husky tour

Snow came in time for this winter and from Tuesday the 3d of November our tours are done with the sleds instead of the carts with wheels. Program is now equivalent to the Happy Trail husky safari.

Huskies are not born fit, it takes lots of preparation and conditioning before the dogs are as fit as they can be. Visit the kennel and get a feel for how the dogs are prepared to be the amazing athletes they are. Before going out on the trail the guide will go over the instructions how to steer the sled. Our enthusiastic dogs will happily take you down the forest trail for an unforgettable experience.
One sled is shared by 2 persons, in halfway there is chance to switch drivers.

If you would like to enjoy traditional Finnish sauna and lunch after the tour, please purchase the additional service “Sauna and Lunch”. Please note that minimum of 2 adults paying a full price is required and dietary restrictions informed upon booking confirmation.

About us

We are a family run husky kennel based in Rovaniemi, Lapland!

In 2003 we decided to realize a dream and established Bearhillhusky in the small town of Lieksa in North Carelia. The first years were a steep learning curve and can only be described as adventurous and uncertain.
At first we concentrated on longer tours in the wilds of North Carelia, but as our family grew, and our services were more and more in demand in Lapland we decided to relocate to Rovaniemi, and focus on day trips and shorter tours.
Since 2012 the family has been permanently located in Rovaniemi.
It’s our passion to work with dogs, breed them, train them and let them be the best dogs they can be.
It is exactly this passion we love to share with you!

Valentijn

Valentijn has been working with huskies since 2000, has participated in numerous canoeing and rafting expeditions in Russia and has spent time as a gold-miner in the gold fields of Lemmenjoki. Although his passport says he is Dutch, he grew up in Southern Africa and, feels he is a citizen of the world. Valentijn loves learning about dogs and can talk for hours about the intricacies of dog training, the history of huskies, breeding and their nutrition.

Veronika

Veronika has been the down to earth voice in our kennel. She is the one who makes sure that emails are answered, bookings go on time, and that all those unseen important tasks in the background get done. She is also an amazing cook, and her salmon soup has impressed many a culinary critic.

Antti

Our wilderness man, and jack of all trades. Antti makes sure that Bearhill keeps moving forward more or less smoothly. With a true love for the wilderness life in his own original way he is a genuine character. Antti loves nothing more than travelling the wilds with his dog-team and has done many solo sledding expeditions throughout Lapland.
